Here in the Institute of Space Research Laboratory takes place the final phase of docking units' preparation for the mission, their mate check. So, that is why both countries' specialists are so carefully monitoring all docking and undocking operations accomplishment.
Each unit is checked in active as well as in passive operation. The Soyuz docking nit is active now.
Both countries' quality controllers monitor the correctness of the process, take measurements of inter-actant elements main dimensions.
And now the Apollo docking unit is active. Docking is performed. The guiding ring is retracted. The unit parameters are recorded. The structural latch's functioning is checked. Various mechanisms providing undocking are in operation. Structure ring latches are released; the unit separation takes pace when capture latches are unlatched.
The next step is to check the quality of electrical connector's coupling. Though the unit configurations are essentially different, it is obvious even to not a specialist, the final result is the same: hard docking and then reliable undocking.
