  • Description

A special envoy of King Hassan of Morocco told newsmen in Rawalpindi on Monday (August 5) that his country wanted to see the Spanish Sahara liberated. Mr. Abder Rahim Bouabid said Morocco was sending a number of delegations to Asian, African and European nations to explain its position over the disputed territory. In his words. Morocco wanted to show the world that Spain was not carrying out the United Nations resolution which called for self- determination for the people of the disputed area.

He said some 10-thousand Spanish troops were in the areas of Rio de Oro and Sakia el Hamra which contained about 40-thousand nomads. He claimed, the area had been the scene of violent clashes between Spanish troops and the desert people.

Morocco has decided to take all measures, including the use of force, to liberate the parts of its territory which are still under Spain.
