Background: Saudi Arabia's King Khalid and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat mst for discussions on Wednesday (23 April) at the end of a summit meeting between them and Syria's President Hazez Al-Assad.
King Khalid was accompanied by the First Deputy Premier and Minister of the Interior Crown Prince Fahd, as the Minsters of Defence, Finance, and Foreign Affairs. Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Cairo was also present.
President Sadat was accompanied by Egyptian Vice-President Horny Mubaraak, the Minister of Housing and Reconstruction and the President's Secretary for Foreign Contacts.
The Egyptian leader was in Riyadh for a three party summit meeting which led to renewed contacts between his country and Syria. Relations between the two countries had been strained for some time.
