This afternoon the three last National Service men in the Middle East left a hot and sticky Bahrain bound for Blighty, Beer and beauty. One, at least is determined to return to the Gulf...but preferably in a Governmental job. Sapper Reid, last of the N.S. Men serving in the Gulf was presented (in the absence of his C.O. who was away,) with the Squadron Plaque by Sqn Sgt Maj Hide R.E. He was later chaired to the plane but this was a hit of a shambles as they took him to the wrong "entrance". A similar mistake was made when Station Commander R.A.F. (Muharraq,)...Group Capt T.D. Sanderson shook hands and wished fair flight to his last remaining N.S. Raftypes. The shots at the end of the roll are more sincere and more in keeping. I think.
