Background: Tuesday afternoon the Budapest Committee of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party and the Budapest Committee of the Patriotic People's Front held a YUGOSLAV-HUNGARIAN friendship meeting in the Sports Hall.

First speaker was Mr. Janos Kadar, First Secretary of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party, Chairman of the Council of Ministers.

He spoke about the history of both people and their relations.

Then he spoke about the international situation. Speaking of the present ties of the two countries he said that the present visit was an important event in the development of the ties between the two peoples, its parties and Governments. The joint communique signed on that afternoon reflects also this fact.

    Then President Tito spoke.

He said that he was convinced that the relation between the neighbouring socialist countries rests on strong and lasting foundations, on the basis of full equality and equality of rights, as well as of mutual respect and understanding. On various fields they successfully develop and widen their relations and friendly ties.

Finally he thanked for the help of the Hungarian Government and Hungarian people received after the severe earthquake in Skopje.
