  • Description

A few days ago five adventures, two Frenchmen and three Chileans set sail from Santiago Chile aboard a raft bound for the far Pacific island of Tahiti. The raft will travel up the coast of South America to Callao, Peru and then head out across the Pacific to its island destination: (FILM IN)
The Raft is 35 feet long and 15 feet wide and replaces the one which brought the expedition leader, 67 year old Eric de Bischopp. That first raft was abandoned after riding out a tremendous hurricane off the Chilean coast. The trip to Tahiti is expected to take around seven months. Be Bischopp and his navigator, Alain Brun, are French citizens. The other three crewmen are natives of Chile. Named Tikki after a Polynesian god for good luck, the raft is the handiwork of Chilean craftsmen. The Expedition is not out to prove anything except, perhaps, that there is still plenty of adventure left in the world...if you where to look for it. After farewells the Tikki is towed down the river and out to sea...for the great voyage.
