    South African-born athlete Zola budd arrived in Johannesburg on 16/8 from the Los Angeles games. Ms Budd received a warm welcome from her family and some hundred fans who waited at the airport terminal. Zola showed no emotion and ignored reporters questions as police surrounding her cleared an exit to a waiting car. Ms Budd was granted British Citizenship to enable her to compete in the Olympic Games because of the International Boycott on South Africa because of their apartheid policies. Ms Budd had a disastrous games. She tangled with United States track star Mary Decker in the final of the three thousand metres and Ms Decker was put out of the race. Ms Budd came in seventh. The Budd family say she has already recovered her confidence and they expect her to return to the UK after the holiday with her relatives in Bloemfontein.
