  • Description

Forty-five pilots from the United Kingdom, West Germany, Holland and Poland are competing in the 1975 Euroglide Championships which end on Monday 25 August -- the curtain raiser to the World Gliding Championships in Finland next year.

In the air on Saturday (16 August) was multi-record holder and top Polish woman pilot, Mrs. "Pela" Majewska flying a Cirrus.

The ten-day championships have attracted other top international competitors including Doctor Wolfgang Gross of West Germany and Mr. Arnold Gelder from Holland.

The cream of the British glider pilots are also competing including the U.K. World championship squad.

Weather permitting, the competitors fly speed and distance trials daily on a triangular course. On Saturday the strong thermals created by Cumulus clouds made for some good gliding.
