  • Description

Parliamentary members from eleven Arab states spent two days this week co-ordinating their policy for the forthcoming international Inter-Parliamentary Union conference, to be held in London early next month.

When the meeting ended yesterday (7 August) in the resort of Bloudan, Syria, the delegates had approved an unified Arab approach to the coming conference.

The Middle East crisis was also discussed during the meeting. so was the question of Palestinian representation at the London conference.

The last Inter-Parliamentary Union conference, held in Sri Lanka, decided to give the Palestinians observer status at its meetings. And during this week, the Palestine National Council -- which represents more than 150 Palestinian guerrilla movements and communities -- decided to send observers to next month's London conference.
