    CZECHOSLOVAKIA DEFEATED THE ENGLISH WOMEN'S 'B' TEAM IN THREE STRAIGHT MATCHES WHICH EACH WENT ONLY TWO SETS. V MIKO BEAT S.GIBBS OF ENGLAND CONVINCINGLY 21-13 AND 21-15 IN THEIR MATCH.

    IN THE DOUBLES EVENT FOR WOMEN WEST GERMANY DEFEATED SCOTLAND. ONE OF THE WEST GERMANS WAS DIANE SCHOLER WHO SHARED THE WORLD DOUBLES TITLE SEVERAL YEARS AGO. SHE WAS PARTNERED BY AGNES SIMON, REGARDED AS ONE OF WEST GERMANY'S MOST PROMISING PLAYERS. THE SCOTTISH PAIR WERE LESLEY BARRIE AND OLIVE HAWKINS.
