Background: Soccer....and in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil scored a two-nil victory over a visiting Czechoslovakian side in Brazil's last in international game before departing for the World Cup soccer championships in Argentina.

SYNOPSIS: Rain fell throughout the match, but it did little to dampen the attacking spirit of either team. Czechoslovakia, in the while shorts, attacked hard in the first half, but Brazil-soon to travel to Argentina for the World Cup-proved the tougher side, and snatched the attack back from the Czechs.

Czechoslovakian manager Vaclav Jezek said before the match that his team would play a defensive game and Brazil ensured this took place. Edinho created the first goal for Captain Roberto Rivelino who hammered it home past goalkeeper Hrusk. It put the Brazilian's one-nil ahead.

As the second half opened, Brazil's sparkle had dimmed a little, but they maintained their attack. After a corner Rivelino again shot for goal but this time Hrusk found it and pushed it out above the players' heads.

Brazil's fans were demanding a conclusive victory in this game after a dismal performance the previous weekend by the national team against a Pernambuco state side which held them to a goal less draw. In the forthcoming World Cup their group three opponents will be Spain, Sweden and Australia.

The fans were given that convincing victory. Brazil's second goal was set up by Batista who passed to Le Sergio, who shot, but Hrusk was ready. He wasn't prepared for Rivelino's quick follow-up and that gave Brazil the final 2-0 victory.
