MR. KHRUSHCHEV, LEFT THE YUGOSLAV CAPITAL YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) AT THE END OF HIS TWO-WEEK WORKING?

  • Description

MR. KHRUSHCHEV, LEFT THE YUGOSLAV CAPITAL YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) AT THE END OF HIS TWO-WEEK WORKING HOLIDAY DURING WHICH HE HAD BEEN SIGHT-SEEING, SPEECH MAKING, AND TALKING WITH PRESIDENT TITO.

SUNTANNED AND SMILING, THE SOVIET LEADER SAID HIS TALKS WITH PRESIDENT TITO HAD SHOWN "COMPLETE MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING AND HARMONY". THE YUGOSLAV PRESIDENT REITERATED MR. KHRUSHCHEV'S WORDS AND SAID HIS VISIT HAD HELPED TO SET THEIR RELATIONS ON "REAL AND FIRM FOUNDATIONS" AND HE WAS SATISFIED WITH THEIR EXTENSIVE AND FRANK DISCUSSIONS. PRESIDENT TITO WENT ON TO REPEAT WHAT HE HAD SAID EARLIER IN VELENJE THAT IN THE STRUGGLE FOR SOCIALISM IT WAS POSSIBLE TO HAVE DIFFERENT CONCEPTS -- THE IDEA WHICH MR. KHRUSHCHEV NOW ENDORSES -- AND THAT FRIENDLY EXCHANGES OF OPINION BETWEEN COMMUNIST LEADERS WAS THEREFORE ESSENTIAL.

IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT DURING THEIR TALKS, PRESIDENT TITO URGED FOR GREATER SOVIET SUPPORT AND UNDERSTANDING FOR THE UNCOMMITTED NATIONS, AND FOR SOVIET BACKING FOR GREATER REPRESENTATION OF AFRO-ASIAN COUNTRIES ON UNITED NATIONS BODIES.
