IT HAS ALREADY LOST ONE OF ITS KEY COMPONENT STATES -- SINGAPORE -- BUT THE UNIFY DRIVE GOES ON AMONG THE CHINESE, MALAYS AND INDIANS OF MALAYA AND THE MULTI-RACIAL GROUPING IN THE BORNEO TERRITORIES OF SABAH AND SARAWAK.

    A NATIONAL SOLIDARITY WEEK BEGAN ON NOVEMBER ONE IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL, KUALA LUMPUR. THE CITY'S STADIUM, WHICH HOLDS TWENTY-FIVE THOUSANDS PEOPLE, WAS PACKED FOR THE OCCASION AND THE CROWDS TOOK UP THE SLOGAN CRY OF "BERJAYA" OR SUCCESS. THE EVENT WAS ALSO THE FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE OF THE NEW MALAYSIAN KING, THE YANG DI-PERTUAN AGONG. THE KING, WHO IS ELECTED FROM AMONG THE RULERS OF MALAYA EACH FIVE YEARS, IS THE SULTAN OF TRENGGANU.

    ANOTHER SPEAKER WAS THE PRIME MINISTER, TENGKU ABDUL RAHMAN, AND THE FEDERAL INFORMATION MINISTERS, INCHE SENU BIN ABDUL RAHMAN, WHO LED THE CROWD IN PLEDGING LOYALTY TO MALAYSIA.

    SIMILAR PAGEANTS WERE ORGANISED IN OTHER MALAYSIAN TERRITORIES.
