    Siamese Twin boys, separated in a history-making operation in China four years ago are back in hospital. They returned for a check-up in preparation for more corrective surgery, and doctors say they're happy with the way two boys are developing.

    SYNOPSIS: Hu Yongda and Hu Yongtao were born as Siamese twins in a village near Beijing in 1975. They were separated a few days later in a delicate operation at the Beijing Children's Hospital. In the previous thirty years in China the complicated surgery had been attempted only twice before - their's was the first to succeed. Since then the twins have been developing normally.

    At birth the boys were joined from the breastbone to the naval, and shared a liver ut fortunately they had separate digestive and circulatory systems. When brought to the hospital they were suffering from pneumonia and doctors operated almost immediately. The surgery lasted for nearly an hour and half.

    Under the care of a special medical team the twins quickly recovered. One was allowed home after two months, the other who still lacked an abdominal wall, followed when he was six and a half months old. He later underwent more corrective surgery.

    Since the operation the twins have been looked after by their parents. Now they're back in hospital for more surgery, this time on their breastbones. Doctors say when this latest operation is complete Hu Yongda and Hu Yongda will grow up to live normal lives.
