    A STATE OF EMERGENCY AND A DUSK TO DAWN CURFEW WERE IMPOSED ON ACCRA, CAPITAL OF GHANA, ON SATURDAY, FOLLOWING RENEWED TERRORIST BOMB ATTACKS ON THURSDAY EVENING.

    THE STREETS OF ACCRA WERE LEFT DESERTED BUT FOR THE POLICE WHO WERE ON DUTY DURING SATURDAY NIGHT TO ENFORCE THE CURFEW. NO INCIDENTS WERE REPORTED BUT ABOUT 230 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED FOR BEING OUT AFTER THE CURFEW.

    IN THE LAST SEVEN WEEKS, FIFTEEN GHANAIANS HAVE BEEN KILLED AND MORE THAN 250 INJURED IN A WAVE OF TERROR. PUBLIC PROCESSIONS HAVE BEEN BANNED IN ACCRA AND ROAD BLOCKS SET UP ON ROUTES INTO THE CAPITAL.

    IN A BROADCAST, PRESIDENT NKRUMAH OF GHANA, APPEALED TO GHANAIANS TO GIVE EVERY ASSISTANCE TO THE POLICE TO RID GHANA OF "WANTON TERRORISM AND BRUTALITY."
