Background: A delegation from the German Democratic Republic arrived in the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen on Monday (18 February) for a one-week official visit.
The delegation -- headed by the Secretary of the Political Bureau of the German Democratic Republic's Social Unity Party, Gerhard Grueneberg--was to hold three days of talks with leaders of the Yemeni People's Democratic Republic, and to visit various parts of the country.
The German delegates were greeted at Aden airport by Ali Saleh Obad, a member of the Yemeni Political Bureau, and the head of the Secretariat of the ruling National Liberation Front.
Herr Grueneberg said the purpose of his delegation's visit was to discuss bilateral relations, and to deepen the mutual struggle of the two Republics against capitalist imperialism.
Soon after their arrival, the German delegates began talks with the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front. The delegation was scheduled to meet the Yemeni People's Republic Prime Minister, Ali Nasser Mohammed, during the official visit.
