Background: Jordan's King Hussein and his senior Ministers were among those attending a eulogy in Amman on Monday (10 January) for the country's assassinated Prime Minister Wasfi Tell. The ceremony--which marked the 40th day since Mr. Tell was fatally shot inside a Cairo hotel--included speeches reviewing his political life and tributes to his services to Jordan. Similar ceremonies were staged in schools, villages and towns throughout the nation.
Four Palestinian extremists are to stand trial in Cairo charged with premeditated murder of the former Prime Minister. Mr. Tell had strongly enforced King Hussein's police of preventing the Palestine guerrillas from challenging the power of the State.
