    A GOVERNMENT BUILDING IN SAIGON'S CHINESE DISTRICT OF CHOLON WAS BLOWN UP YESTERDAY (SATURDAY) BY A PLASTIC BOMB ALLEGEDLY PLANTED BY THE VIET CONG.

    THE EXPLOSION TOOK PLACE SHORTLY AFTER DAWN AND ABOUT AN HOUR-AND-A-HALF BEFORE WORKERS AND CLERKS WERE DUE TO ARRIVE AT THE BUILDING, WHICH HOUSES ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES.

    NO ONE WAS HURT IN THE BLAST BUT THE BUILDING WAS ALMOST TOTALLY DESTROYED. FILING CABINETS AND CHAIRS WERE RIPPED APART BY THE EXPLOSION AND THE ROOF OF THE STRUCTURE COLLAPSED.

    POLICE HAVE SAID THAT THE EXPLOSIVE HAD PROBABLY BEEN PLACED AT THE BUILDING'S MAIN ENTRANCE.

    THE VIET CONG ARE ALSO BELIEVED TO HAVE BLOWN UP THE GOVERNMENT INFORMATION BUILDING IN CHOLON LAST MONTH.
