The Indian Prime Minster, Mrs. Indira Ghandi, has made a major attack on her long-standing allies, the Communist Party of India. She's accused the party of being opposed to her and to her younger son, Sanjay, for his alleged anti-communist views.
SYNOPSIS: Within a day of launching the attack, Mr. Ghandi was supported by about 50 thousand workers, who gathered outside her home on Christmas Eve. They showed their support too for her son Sanjay, who's come in for strong criticism recently from the Communist Party, in the wake of his growing national power.
Mrs. Ghandi took strong exception to recent charges by pro-Moscow Communists. They claimed that reactionaries were taking over her ruling Congress Party and attacked her son's five-point social reform programme. Sanjay is now at the head of the five million-strong Youth Congress and becoming more influential in Congress Party decision - making.
With Communist Party demonstrations planned from January the first, Mrs. Ghandi had probably not heard the last of their criticism.
