Background: President Moktar Ould Daddah of Mauritania arrived in Libreville on Monday (June 29) for a four-day official visit to Gabon.
He was greeted at the airport by President Bongo of Gabon and senior government officials.
President Ould Daddah is visiting Gabon for talks with President Bongo and his government over relations between the two countries, and to visit manganese and petroleum installations.
An impressive guard of honour, and a large crowd of townspeople, were at the airport to give President Ould Daddah a warm welcome to Gabon. A group of local women performed a traditional dance of friendship for the visiting dignitary.
After the airport formalities, the two presidents made public statements of goodwill towards each other.
The following day President Ould Daddah left for a tour of Port Gentil and Moanda. On leaving Gabon he is due to pay a visit to Kinshasa.
