    The increase in American involvement in the war in Vietnam has sparked new anti-war demonstrations in the United States. In the San Francisco area on Monday two demonstrations turned violent, end many people were arrested.

    At the entrance to Alameda Naval Air Station student tried to block the road to the base by sitting on the tarmac. Police dragged them away. In the afternoon a group of young people gathered in front of the Federal Building in downtown san Francisco. A Government station wagon was set on fire and many demonstrators were arrested.
