  • Description

Seventy bedridden or otherwise handicapped Dutch invalids, some too poor to be able, usually, to see much of the world outside their sickrooms, were taken on a week's holiday cruise on Holland's rivers and canals Apl 6 in the Red Cross ship "Henri Dunant".

A medical staff of 30 doctors and nurses is looking after them and watching their joy in seeing the beautiful Springtime countryside of the Netherlands seeming to pass slowly past the broad windows of the saloon-wards.

Each night the ship ties up to the bank at a quiet spot : each morning she gets underway while the patients are helped to prepare for the day by the nurses and physicians, most of whom are volunteers who give up their own holidays to this work.

The "Henri Dunant" will make another 25 such voyages this year.
