  • Description

As usual, Easter Sunday in New York (April 22nd) was dominated by Easter Parade which passes along fashionable Fifth Avenue, near the Rockefeller Centre.

Traditionally, the Parade gives ladies, of all age groups, the opportunity to wear their new hats, however outrageous they may appear to the onlooker. This year male contenders took part in the Parade - one wearing in a large Mexican hat.

Animals and children also features in the parade. A rabbit turned up in a child's pram, while a baby appeared disguised as a rabbit. A performing poodle riding a scooter added to the "Alice in Wonderland" atmosphere of this year's event.

Predictably, it was the ladies in their Easter bonnets who attracted much of the onlookers; and photographers', attention.

SYNOPSIS: The Rockefeller Centre as usual the starting point of New York's famous Easter Parade which took place on Sunday. Young ladies, dressed in their new bonnets, strolled along fashionable Fifth Avenue in the hope that they'd catch the photographers eye. Traditionally, the Easter Parade is an event which gives ladies the chance to show off their new hats.

However, this year some men were out to challenge tradition.

But the ladies refused to be outdone.

When a rabbit turned up in a child's pram, the Parade began to look as if it had strolled out of the pages of "Alice in Wonderland."
Men wearing striking white suits contrasted sharply with the fancy dress of the younger generation.

Even a performing poodle had difficulty attracting the attention of the photographers. They were too interested in snapping the ladies in their charming hats.

It was a day for women of all age groups; that is, those who wore an Easter bonnet.

It was also a day for the photographers. In the Easter Parade they are almost as traditional as the ladies' Easter bonnets.

Much of the attention this year was reserved for the Parade's youngest entrant - a small baby dressed in a rabbit costume.
