    The British yachtsman, Sir Francis Chichester, is now heading away from Sydney at the start of a lonely voyage over 152 thousand miles to England.

    He sailed through the heads in his ketch Gypsy Moth Four, and set a south easterly course to take him round the southern tip of New Zealand and then on to Cape Horen.

    Many of the larger yachts among the hundreds that accompanied Gypsy moth down the harbor were still sailing with outside the heads.

    Sir Francis Chichester arrived in Sydney on December 12 after sailing 14 thousand miles from England in 107 days.

    He hopes to compoete the second half of his round the world voyage in 110 days.

    His wife, Lady Chichester, accompanied her husband on the trip down Sydney Harbor, but left his ketch as it neared North Head.

    Two naval architects remained on board through the heads to help the 65 year old Sir Francis hoist the sails.
