    PRESIDENT FELIX HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY OF THE IVORY COAST ARRIVED IN OUAGADOUGOU, UPPER VOLTA ON TUESDAY NIGHT TO ATTEND A 24-HOUR MEETING OF THE WEST AFRICAN ENTENTE COUNCIL. M. HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY JOINED THE PRESIDENTS OF DAHOMEY, UPPER VOLTA, TOGO AND NIGER FOR THE CONFERENCE.

    AT THE END OF THE BRIEF COUNCIL MEETING, THE CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT HAMANI DIORI OF NIGER, RED A COMMUNIQUE ANNOUNCING THAT THE NEXT MEETING OF MINISTERS OF THE COUNCIL WOULD BE HELD IN LOME, TOGO, ON OCTOBER 1. THE COMMUNIQUES ALSO SAID THAT DELEGATES HAD INSTRUCTED THE SECRETARIAT OF THE COUNCIL'S MUTUAL AID FUND AND LOAN GUARANTEE FUND TO MAKE ALL CONTACTS NECESSARY FOR CARRYING OUT REGIONAL PROGRAMMES FOR HYDROLOGICAL, GEOLOGICAL, MINING AND IRRIGATION RESEARCH.

    THE DELEGATES ALSO TOOK NOTE OF THE FORMATION OF A JOINT COMPANY TO DEVELOP TOURISM.
