    An international tournament in sambo wrestling has been held in Moscow. The Moscow team competed against a team from Japan. Sambo wrestling was created in the mid-1930s and is based on the best in the local types of wrestling of many Soviet nationalities. Today sambo wrestling is popular abroad too.

    In Japan, which gave the world judo and ju-jitsu wrestling a sambo wrestling federation was established two years ago and national championships have been held since.

    The Japanese team that competed in Moscow made a tour of the Soviet Union. It last to one teams of Georgia and the Ukraine with the same score of 1:4 and to the Moidavian team 2:3.

    The Moscow meet was opened by flyweight men, Yengi Kashimura and Anatoli Liamsin. The competitors proved to be equal in strength. In such cases the victory goes to the lighter man. The Japanese wrestler was the lucky one.

    In the next fight Soviet Champion Vadim Karglin made a clear victory over Takao Yamamoto on the third minute.

    The meet was watched by the founder of Sambo, Anatoli Kharlampiyev.

    Masahiro Hosozava is obviously weaker than Victor Khaliavin. As a result a pain-inducing trick was made and a clear victory was won by the Soviet man.

    The meet is now certainly in favour of the Soviet team. Yet there was a great interest in the last fight. The Moscow team was represented by 5-time Soviet Champion Yevgeni Cloriozov, who is a master of technical sciences. And Japan fielded Isiziro Seki, who had won all the previous fights during his team's Soviet tour. The Japanese athlete displayed excellent technique and won a good victory. The total score was 3:2 in favour of the Soviet team.
