  • Description

A twenty-man Japanese goodwill mission arrived in Beirut on Wednesday (November 28) to promote the sale of Japanese products.

Heading the delegation was Mr. Kanno Wataro. After being met at the airport by Japan's Ambassador Inigawa, the delegation remained in Beirut for nine hours, holding talks with business agents for Japanese goods. Later they left to continue their tour, which will take them to Iraq, Syria, Libya and Egypt.

The following day it was announced the Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Takeo Miki would tour the Middle East in December, to plead for exemption form planned reduction of Arab oil exports.

The visits come at a time when Japan is striving to win the cooperation of the Arab countries so that her already precarious oil supplies will not be further endangered.
