    In Beirut, Lebanon, supporters of various Palestinian liberation organisations gathered at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) building, where they heard speeches by Yasser Arafat, leader of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and George Habash, who heads the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

    In Baghdad, Iraq, a crowd estimated by eyewitnesses to be around 100,000 marched through the streets of the city, led by prominent members of Palestinian revolutionary organisations.

    The demonstrators carried placards denouncing Zionist occupation of Arab lands and chanted slogans supporting the uprising of Arabs in Israel. In Iraq 30 March was officially declared "Land Day" and similar demonstrations took place in towns all over the country.

    In Cairo, Egypt a rally was held at the Arab League Headquarters with Egyptian Premier Mamdouh Salem and Palestinian spokesmen among the speakers. Gamal Sourani, Cairo representative of the PLO told newsmen on Tuesday that the Israeli authorities were expected to meet the protests in occupied territories with "more violence and oppression".

    In Amman, Jordan, about 250 people marched to the Allenby Bridge, expressing the support of East Bank Arabs for their counterparts across the river Jordan in Israeli-occupied territories. Among the speakers was Dr Hanna Nasser, a deportee from Bir Zeit village in the occupied territories.

    An estimated 250 people assembled there to express the support of East Bank Arabs with their counterparts across the river Jordan in the occupied territories. Several speakers addressed the crowd and among them was Dr hanna Nasser - a deportee from Bir Zeit village in the occupied West Bank.
