Background: An enterprising apple grower at Sebastopol, California, is now renting out trees on his 13-acre orchard at prices ranging from $25 a year to $150 a year, depending on the size of the tree.

Jerry Abbott, the apple grower, reports business is good on his 1,000-tree orchard. Some 25 trees have been "rented " for the year, mostly, he says, to "city folk" who want to get into the country and sit in the shade of their own apple tree after picking apples.
