    THE KETCH'S SKIPPER, 23-YEAR-OLD BOB EATON, DECIDED NOT TO SAIL TO HAIPHONG WHEN HE RECEIVED A CABLE FROM NORTH VIETNAMESE PRESIDENT HO CHI MINH ADVISING THAT IT WAS NOT A SUITABLE TIME TO VISIT THE NORTH "IN VIEW OF INTENSIFIED AMERICAN ATTACKS".

    MR. EATON SAID HE HOPED THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE GOVERNMENT WOULD WELCOME HIM AND HIS CREW, JUST AS THE NORTH VIETNAMESE HAD DONE ON A PREVIOUS "PEACE" TRIP TO HAIPHONG WITH MEDICAL SUPPLIES.

    THE CREW WILL GIVE ITS CARGO OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES, WORTH 6,000 AMERICAN DOLLARS (GBP2,150 STERLING), TO THE UNIFIED BUDDHIST CHURCH AND THE RED CROSS IN SOUTH VIETNAM.

    THE PHOENIX IS CARRYING A CREW OF EIGHT, INCLUDING TWO WOMEN. THEY ARE MISS KYODO KODA OF JAPAN, MISS MARYANN MCNAUGHTON OF PENNSYLVANIA, MR. BERYL NELSON OF INDIANA, MR. HARRISON BUTTERWORTH OF OHIO UNIVERSITY, MR. GEORGE LAKEY, QUAKER PROJECT DIRECTOR, MR. JOHN BRAXTON AND MR. CHRIS COWLEY OF LONDON.
