THE AFRICAN LEADERS WERE ALSO DUE TO HAVE DISCUSSIONS TOGETHER ON A VARIETY OF AFRICAN MATTERS. PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY MENTIONED SOME OF THESE TOPICS WHEN HE SPOKE TO REPORTERS OUTSIDE THE PALACE.

    THE AFRICAN LEADERS AT THE MEETING WERE PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY OF THE IVORY COAST, PRESIDENT MOKTAR OLD DADDAH OF MAURETANIA, PRESIDENT SABGOULE LAMIZANA OF UPPER VOLTA, AND PRESIDENT JEAN BOKASSA OF THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC.

    THE AFRICAN LEADERS WILL SPEND A WEEK OR MORE IN THE FRENCH CAPITAL. DURING THEIR LUNCHEON WITH PRESIDENT DE GAULLE THEY DISCUSSED ASPECTS OF THEIR NATIONS' RELATIONSHIPS WITH FRANCE, AND OTHER MATTERS OF COMMON INTEREST, INCLUDING THAT OF ECONOMIC TIES.

    SPEAKING TO REPORTERS AFTER THE TRADITIONAL 'FAMILY PORTRAIT', PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY OUTLINED FRANCE'S 'EXEMPLARY' RELATIONSHIP WITH AFRICAN COUNTRIES. HE DESCRIBED THE FRENCH PRESIDENT'S ATTITUDE TO AFRICAN FRANCOPHONES AS TOLERANT, AND ONE THAT ALLOWED EACH COUNTRY TO EXPAND WITHOUT DOMINATION.
