Background: Floodwaters unleashed by Hurricane Beth swept through Nova Scotia yesterday (Monday), washing out roads and causing damage to hundreds of homes and other property.

At the town of Dartmouth, the Mayor claimed the flooding had reached disaster proportions. At least five-hundred homes have been flooded. Neighbouring Halifax, capital of the Canadian province, was also badly hit. Total damage is expected to run into millions of dollars.
