    WORLD CHAMPION GIANCOMO AGOSTINI, OF ITALY, TODAY (WEDNESDAY) WON THE 350cc "JUNIOR" TOURIST TROPHY RACE AT THE ISLE OF MAN MOTOR CYCLE MEETING. THIS VICTORY INCREASED AGOSTINI'S ALREADY SUBSTANTIAL LEAD IN THE 1969 350cc WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES.

    RIDING AN M.V. - THE ONLY FACTORY MACHINE ENTERED IN THE RACE - AGOSTINI COVERED THE SIX LAPS OF THE MOUNTAIN CIRCUIT TOTALLING 226.4 MILES (364 KILOMETRES) IN TWO HOURS, 13 MINUTES 25.4 SECONDS. HIS AVERAGE SPEED WAS 101.81 MPH (163.84 KPH).

    ALTHOUGH ALMOST FOUR MINUTES SLOWER THAN HIS RECORD SET OVER THE TRACK LAST YEAR, AGOSTINI CROSSED THE LINE BEFORE THE NEXT MAN - JACK FINDLAY OF AUSTRALIA - HAD REACHED RAMSEY, 12 MILES (19 KILOMETRES) AWAY.

    IN THE BATTLE FOR MINOR PLACES, FINDLAY WAS OVERTAKEN BY BRIAN STEENSON WHO FINISHED SECOND WITH FINDLAY THIRD.

    AGOSTINI, WHO WAS GAINING HIS FOURTH VICTORY IN ISLE OF MAN T.T. RACING, WAS GARLANDED AFTER THE RACE BY THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH.
