    HIGHLAND WEDDING, OWNED JOINTLY BY AMERICAN MR TIM MCKOY AND CANADIAN MR CHARLES BURNS, WAS EIGHT IN 1966 AND SEVENTH LAST YEAR.

    HE TOOK THE LEAD A LONG WAY FROM THE POST IN THE FOUR MILES 856 YARDS (6.4 KMS 780 MTS) EVENT, AND RAN STRONGLY TO WIN BY 12 LENGTHS FROM STEEL BRIDGE, WITH RONDETTO A LENGTH AWAY THIRD.

    HIGHLAND WEDDING, RIDDEN BY IRISH JOCKEY EDDIE HARTY, STARTED AT 10 TO 9 IN THE BETTING, AND HIS WIN BROUGHT HIS OWNERS GBP17,848 STERLING (43,000 DOLLARS) IN PRIZE-MONEY.

    THE AINTREE COURSES' 30 JUMPS TOOK THEIR TOLL OF THE 30 HORSES WHO STARTED IN THE EVENT. FEARLESS FRED, ONE OF THE BEST-FANCIED RUNNERS, AND RED ALLIGATOR, LAST YEAR'S WINNER, WERE AMONG THOSE WHO FELL.
