Delegates from the European Economic Community and Tunisia are meeting in Brussels to discuss trade co-operation agreements between the two. The EEC and Tunisia concluded the agreements in April, 1976, and the deal was part of the European Community's attempt to strengthen links with the Arab world.

SYNOPSIS: On Tuesday (12 December), and EEC delegation started talks with Tunisian representatives at the Council Building in Brussels.

The Tunisian party - led by the country's Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohammed Fitouri - is expected to ask for a review of the trade agreement between the two sides. Issues at stake mainly involve Tunisia's olive oil and textile production.

There has been a marked increase in the European Community's exports to Arab League countries recently and the EEC is by far their largest trading partner. In the eight years from 1970 to 1977, exports from the EEC to the Arab countries increased by 578 percent.
