    Background: The Olympic Games in Montreal are facing another political crisis -- the possible withdrawal of a number of African nations. Following the controversy over Taiwan, which has been refused permission to compete under the banner of the Republic of china, the Supreme Council of African Sport has called for New Zealand to be banned because of its sporting links with South Africa. Tanzania has already announced its withdrawal over the issue.

    SYNOPSIS: The President of the Supreme Council, Mr. Abraham Ordia, who is also thee head of the Nigerian Olympic team, went to the International Olympic Committee's hotel in Montreal on Sunday (11 July) following the call to ban New Zealand.
