    Uganda's President Amin on Tuesday (23 May) told the East African Legislative Assembly that although the East African Community is going through difficulties he has confidence in its future. The Assembly is meeting in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

    This is the first time the East African Legislative Assembly has met in Uganda since the military takeover in January last year.

    It consists of twenty-seven elected members from three countries - Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda - and usually meets three times a year.

    Among items on this week's agenda are the East African Community budget, and a discussion of the East African Airways Corporation Report for 1970.

    SYNOPSIS: The Houses of Parliament in Kampala is the scene of the first East African Legislative Assembly meeting to be held in Uganda since the military takeover sixteen months ago. Uganda's President Amin was guest of honour at the meeting which brings together representatives of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. General Amin voiced confidence in the future.
