Background: Speaking at the North Vietnamese delegation headquarters in Choisy-le-Roi (near Paris), Co-Chief Negotiator to the Peace Talks Nguyen Than Le, yesterday (Saturday) reiterated Hanoi's position on the peace agreement to be signed with the United States. He said that the terms of the agreement had been finalised and quoted a letter purported to have been written by President Nixon on October 20th, saying that the agreement was assured.

Then, the North Vietnamese diplomat added (speaking through an interpreter), that in his speech of November 2nd, President Nixon had gone back on the agreement. And, he continued, by continuing to send massive arms and other supplies to South Vietnam, the United States was only showing its intention of continuing the war.

Chief Negotiator Xuan Thuy was also present during the interview. M. Than Le spoke in Vietnamese - the interpreter in French.
