    BICKERS WON THE FIRST HEAT -- AND FINISHED SECOND IN THE OTHER HEAT. ANOTHER BRITISH RIDER, E.J.RICKMAN WAS SECOND IN THE OVERALL RESULT, AHEAD OF THE CZECHOSLOVAKIAN VISITOR, VLASTIMIL VALEK, IN THIRD PLACE.

    A CROWD OF MORE THAN THIRTY-SIX THOUSAND TURNED OUT TO WATCH THE EVENT -- IN WHICH VISITORS FROM MANY PARTS OF EUROPE WERE TAKING PART. MANY OF THE SPECTATORS WERE ATTRACTED TO THE RACE BY THE PRESENCE OF REIGNING WORLD CHAMPION, JOEL ROBERT OF BELGIUM. HE WAS UNLUCKY IN THE FIRST HEAT WHEN HIS MOTORCYCLE DEVELOPED MECHANICAL TROUBLE AND HE WAS FORCED TO WITHDRAW. HE WON THE SECOND HEAT.

    BICKERS, WHO HAS NOW WON THREE RACES IN THIS YEAR'S SERIES IS ELEVEN POINTS BEHIND HE LEADER IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE, VICTOR ARBEKOV OF THE SOVIET UNION. ARBEKOV HAS 49 POINTS, ROBERT HAS 40 POINTS AND BICKERS 38 POINTS.
