    The Nato Navy commanders-in-chief, who form together the Channel-committee, have had a meeting in the Hague Friday 9th May.

    The most important commission (task) of the Nato Navy is to protect the mercantile marine on the Atlantic Ocean. This comes under the competency of the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic. The Channel and the south part of the Northsea come under another commander in chief,: the Allied Commander in chief Channel. The Channel committee (now in conference in the Hague) will decide on the policy (conduct) that the Allied Commander Channel will follow.
