  • Description

New, short hair styles - a forecast of trends in coiffure for the coming winter - were displayed by elegant mannequins in a parade at the "Laurent" salons, Paris, July 20. French fashion experts predict that these "1920" styles will be essential for all wearers of the now fashionable cloche hat.

It was expected that the winter of 1960 would become a race between hair modes and new innovations in headgear. Many proud wearers of the now fashionable bouffant and "beehive" styles are alarmed at the prospect of losing their treasured tresses.

Several top model girls complained that with their hair shingled they would be forced to scrap all their old hats and buy new ones. Indignant London model, Marilyn O'Dell, voiced the opinions of many when he said that long hair was much more elegant. "Mine would be just a mop if it were short, and I'd look about 16!"
