    King Feisal of Saudi Arabia arrived in Taiwan on Monday for a four-day State visit at the invitation of President Chiang Kai Shek.

    Oil-rich Saudi Arabia and Taiwan have close economic ties at present. Taiwan imports more than 14 million dollars (about GBP6 million Sterling) worth of Saudi oil per year, and exports goods to Saudi Arabia worth more than 3 million dollars (GBP1.3 million Sterling).

    Saudi Arabia is also understood to be seeking Taiwan experts to help in various fields of agricultural development.

    SYNOPSIS: King Faisal of Saudi Arabia arrived in Taiwan on Monday to spend four days on a State visit at the invitation of President Chiang Kai Shek. Awaiting him on the tarmac at Taipei Airport was a magnificently turned out Guard of Honour, their gold braid shining in the sunlight.

    During his visit so far, King Feisal has spoken out strongly against both Communism and Zionism.

    He said at a social function that any country which allowed the existence of communism would see its national spirit violated, and would turn into a land of desolation.

    He also said that Zionists 'deprive people of their freedom and happiness, and destroy their faith'. Oil-rich Saudi Arabia and Taiwan have close economic relations at present. Taiwan imports more than 14 million dollars worth of Saudi oil per year, and exports goods to Saudi Arabia worth more than 3 million dollars.

    It was expected that in his talks with President Chiang Kai Shek, King Feisal would seek ways to strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.

    Saudi Arabia is understood to be seeking Taiwan experts to help in various fields of agricultural development.

    King Fiesal is due to start a Six-day state visit to Japan on 20 May.
