  • Description

Thousands of enthusiastic textile workers displayed their support for Egyptian President Anwar Sadat's decision to agree to the Middle East peace treaty with Israel when they marched through his home town on Thursday (25 September) and presented him with a document written in blood.
The delegation, led by governor Nayal Elgamel of Monofiya Province, marched through the streets of Miet Abu Alkoum to President Sadat's home, where he was in residence during a short vacation from cairo.
The president received the marchers and read to document, and shook hands with the demonstrators' leaders. The document was in support of the recent Sinai peace agreement in which Israel agreed to withdraw from certain areas of the sinai desert, which it captured from Egypt during the 1976 war.
