The Bolivian Information Ministry announced that Boris Banzer Prada, 21, was killed on Tuesday (21 December) when a gun he was cleaning went off accidently and shot him in the chest.
SYNOPSIS: The Bolivian capital of La Paz was in mourning on Wednesday for the funeral of President Banzer's eldest son, killed on Tuesday in a gun accident. The Bolivian Information Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday night, saying that Boris Banzer Prada, who was 21, was killed when a gun he was cleaning went off accidently and shot him through the chest.
President Banzer and his family led the funeral procession through the city streets to the cemetery. Boris had been in the final year of his studies at University, and had hoped to enter a career in politics. Sources said he was an above-average student who enjoyed a reputation for being popular with students and Government officials.
