    THREE PEOPLE DIED AND SIX WERE INJURED, ONE CRITICALLY, WHEN A TWIN-ENGINED LIGHT AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO A HOUSE AT LINDENHURST, A SUBURB OF NEW YORK CITY.THE PLANE PLOUGHED INTO THE BACK-YARD OF THE HOUSE LATE ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON, (NOVEMBER 16), HITTING THE DWELLING AS IT FELL.

    THE AIRCRAFT, A SIX-SEATER BEECHRAFT, CARRYING THREE CIVIL AIR PATROL OFFICERS, HAD TAKEN OFF A FEW MINUTES BEFORE FROM A NEARBY AIRPORT.IT LOST POWER AT TREE-TOP LEVEL, BANKED AND PLUMMETED TO THE GROUND.AS IT FELL, THE PLANE SLICED OFF A CORNER OF A HOUSE OWNED BY MR STANLEY KATA, AND BURST INTO FLAMES AS IT HIT THE GROUND; THE THREE MEN ABOARD WERE KILLED INSTANTLY.BURNING AVIATION SPIRIT SPRAYED BY THE BLAST SET FIRE TO THE KATA HOUSE AND THREE CARS PARKED NEARBY.

    THE WRECKAGE OF THE PLANE BURNED FOR SEVERAL HOURS, ALTHOUGH FIREMEN WERE ABLE TO SAVE THE KATA HOUSE BEFORE SERIOUS DAMAGE WAS DONE.A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS DISABLED BY A DEFECTIVE ENGINE JUST AS IT TOOK OFF.
