For the first time since the end of World War Two an Albanian diplomat has arrived in Greece to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The new Albanian Ambassador, Mr. Lyk Seiti, presented his credentials to the Greek Regent, General George Zoetakis, at a special ceremony on Tuesday (November 16). SYNOPSIS: For the first time since the end of World War Two an Albanian diplomat has arrived in Greece to present his credentials and begin the work of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The new Ambassador is Mr. Lyk Seiti who presented his credentials to the Greek Regent, General George Zoetakis, in a special ceremony in Athens on Tuesday. The Albanian party was welcomed by the Regent's Aide-de-camp, Lieutenant-General Alevizos.

Until last year, Greece had technically been at war with Albania since 1940. Greece still lays claim to part of Southern Albania -- or Northern Epirus -- which is inhabited by a Greek-orientated element.

The new diplomatic link officially puts an end to the war status between the two countries.
