Background: INTRODUCTION: Soccer -- and in the Algerian National Championships, El Harrach beat Union Sportive d'Alger two-one in a close game on Saturday (22 January) with the winning goal only coming in the closing minutes. The defeat was especially bitter for Union Sportive -- they'd already been eliminated in the Algerian Cup Final, and were pinning their hopes for this season on the National Championships.
SYNOPSIS: Sportive, in the dark tops, began well -- launching some skilful attacks shortly after the kick off. The two clubs, sharing close positions in the middle of the National Championship points table, are generally reckoned to be evenly matched.
Harrach tried counter-attaching, but they hadn't yet recovered from Sportive's opening onslaught. They had several shots at goal, but all went wide.
Sportive keeping up the pressure -- and after more clever tactical play, they found a big enough gap in the Harrach defence.
And it was Ziden, in the number ten jersey, who took Sportive into a one nil lead in the fifteenth minute. Harrach 'keeper Belekhal didn't have a chance.
After a half-time briefing, Harrach went onto the offensive again -- but still couldn't find their way past Harkat in the Sportive net.
But down at the other end, Belekhal wasn't letting any more into the Harrach net either.
Harrach persevering -- and getting their chance after a corner. Lahcene, number five, seized the opportunity -- and turned it into the equaliser. One-all.
Harrach searching desperately for the winning goal -- and only finding it with seven minutes to go. Salmi, at number ten, made sure of victory.
