    The Zambian President, Mr. Kenneth Kaunda, arrived in Arusha on Sunday (4 February) for a summit conference with President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania and President Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire. The meeting is expected to be dominated by the Rhodesian decision to life its border blockade on Zambia.

    Tanzania, Zambia and Zaire are members of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU). The liberation struggle in southern African and the closer economic co-operation between the three neighbouring countries are also expected to be topics for discussion.

    On Sunday (Feb 4) Rhodesia lifted its border blockade on Zambia, which was imposed on January 9, but Zambia declared the move was a trick and later announced that their own blockade, would remain in force.

    SYNOPSIS: The people of Tanzania welcomed the Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda on his arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport on Sunday.

    Tanzania's President Julius Nyerere and other government officials formed an official welcoming party on the tarmac.

    President Kaunda is in Tanzania to attend a conference with President Nyerere and Zaire's President Mobutu Sese Seko. The three neighbouring countries are members of the Organisation of African Unity Commission. Rhodesia's decision to lift its border blockade on Zambian is expected to dominate to conference.

    Tanzania tribal dancers let President Kaunda known in their own traditional way of their friendship for the people of Zambia. Closer cooperation and economic ties between Tanzania, Zambia and Zaire are also expected to be one of the topics discussed at the meeting.

    Presidents Nyerere and Kaunda are said to be planning to discuss the liberation struggle in southern Africa, especially in Angola. Zaire, Tanzania and Zambia have helped in arranging an agreement between Angola's main guerrilla groups for unified political and military command.

    Following the welcome at Kilimanjaro Airport, the two Heads of State left for the thirty mile drive to Arusha where the three nation summit meeting was to open on Monday.
