    There have been more devastating floods in India. Vast areas have been flooded and dozens have lost their lives.

    SYNOPSIS: The latest area hit is the northeast state of Bihar. The town of Azamgarh was one of the many towns under water on Sunday (26 September). So far at least 50 people have been reported killed by the floods. In the state capital, Patna, an official spokesman said that there are now millions of people homeless from several weeks of widespread flooding in the area. To survey the damage Agriculture and Irrigation minister, Jagjivan Ram, flew over the area accompanied by Chief Minister, Dr. Misra Bihar.

    After seeing the damage Mr. Jagjivan announced an extra 50 million rupees (3.3 million pounds sterling) in government loans to farmers wiped out by the floods. In the north of Bangladesh. which borders Bihar, the floods have left 50,000 people homeless and damaged crops.
