  • Description

In bright sun a crowd of 20,000 people watched the Senegalese national side beat a Moroccan side by 2-1 in their qualifying fixture for the African Nations Cup on Sunday (13 April). However the win was not by large enough margin to allow the Senegalese to move to the next round.

The teams played two games and in the earlier one in Morocco the home side won 4-0. So Morocco advance to the next round by a 5-2 aggregate.

Both of Senegal's goals came in the first half. In the second minute of play the home side was awarded a penalty which centre-forward Christophe Sagna slammed home. Forty minutes later Sagna scored again.

The Moroccans couldn't penetrate Senegal's defence and in the second half pulled more players back in defence to protect the lead they had gained in the earlier game.

Then in the B6th minute the Moroccans did manage to get through and captain Faras Ahmed headed the ball into the goal.
